Moving Beyond Meaningful Use
Although Meaningful Use Stage 2 is no longer the current federal program, its goals helped establish the foundation for today’s focus on interoperability and connected healthcare.
For eligible clinicians, interoperability requirements are now addressed through the MIPS Promoting Interoperability performance category, while CMS maintains the Medicare Promoting Interoperability Program for eligible hospitals and critical access hospitals.
